The Czech-Icelandic formation fyield embarks on its first tour of the USA. They will record their set in the studio of the prestigious KEXP radio in Seattle. The recording will be published later.

Fyield's work deals with the theme of human influence on climate change. The project consists of Czech musicians Václav Havelka and Kryštof Kříček from the band Please The Trees with Icelandic musician Pan Thorarensen, a member of the ambient trio Stereo Hypnosis and founder of the international experimental music festival Extreme Chill.

The creation of the debut album Future Landscapes was preceded by a sonic expedition where a pair of leading European field recordists were invited: Sara Pinheiro (Portugal) and Magnús Bergsson (Iceland). Together they explored eight locations in the Czech Republic and Iceland, where they used special equipment such as hydrophone, geophone, ambeo and electro ear to capture the sounds of infrastructures that are otherwise inaccessible to human ears. They have been searching and trying to understand the sound of catastrophe - the sound of ongoing climate change, which itself can be much more beautiful and imaginative than one would expect.

fyield is based on the interdisciplinary project Landscapes of the Future, which also includes the documentary film Invisible Landscapes by director Ivo Bystřičan, a podcast series, a field diary by philosopher Lukáš Likavčan (who also participated in the expedition), and a series of lectures on climate issues. The live musical performance will be preceded by a film screening.
